THE BROADCAST TEAM

Rich Burk, "the voice of summer in Portland," is back for his 14th year of baseball play-by-play in the Rose City. He will be lead broadcaster on television and radio.

In addition to his duties with the Beavers, Rich has called Pac-10 football and basketball on FSN, and has filled in to call play-by-play for three major-league teams -- the San Diego Padres, Montreal Expos and Toronto Blue Jays. Curt Smith, the author of the acclaimed book "Voices of the Game" (termed by The Sporting News as "the definitive book on baseball broadcasting"), had this to say: "I am impressed by Rich's style, baseball knowledge, and ability to tell and sell the game. He has the capacity to make the game come alive."

Rich is a graduate of Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., and lives in Hillsboro with his wife and two children. He spends a great deal of time—particularly during the off-season—promoting the Beavers and baseball through speaking engagements at schools, service clubs and other gatherings. He can be reached at rburk@pgepark.com; or, you can see his website at www.richburk.com.

Tim Hagerty joins Rich in the radio broadcast booth for the second straight year, and will serve as lead radio broadcaster on those dates Rich moves to TV.

Tim came to the Beavers after serving as the lead broadcaster for the Double-A Mobile BayBears for three seasons. He grew up in Canton, Mass., and graduated from Lyndon State College in Lyndonville, Vermont. During the off-season, he covers college football and basketball for Fox Sports Radio.

"Here's a guy who was a lead broadcaster for three years, and he's filled in for the Kansas City Royals," said Burk. "We're very lucky to have him."

Scott Anderson will again bring his experience and talent to the booth as color analyst for the television broadcasts on FSN. A graduate of Oregon State University, Anderson pitched professionally for 12 seasons, including parts of three years in the big leagues with Texas, Montreal and Kansas City.

"I really enjoy working with Scott," said Burk. "He's an expert at breaking down the game, and he's great at knowing what pitchers are thinking."
